Annual Food Price Changes in the Don Region

According to statistical data, in the Rostov region from December 2024 to December 2025, the prices for beef and cheese increased the most significantly. At the same time, eggs and many vegetables became cheaper.

The cost of meat and fish showed a notable increase:
- Beef (excluding boneless) increased from 578 ($6 at current rates) to 654 ($7) rubles per kilogram.
- The price of pork increased from 383 ($4) to 422 ($5) rubles.
- Chilled chickens became more expensive by 18 rubles, reaching 226 ($3) rubles per kilogram.
- Dressed frozen fish (excluding salmon) rose in price from 358 ($4) to 409 ($5) rubles.
Among basic products, bread made from rye and mixed flour increased from 82 ($1) to 92 ($1) rubles, and from wheat flour — from 92 ($1) to 105 ($1) rubles. A dozen chicken eggs, on the contrary, became significantly cheaper — from 116 ($1) to 83 ($1) rubles. Sugar decreased in price from 69 ($1) to 63 ($1) rubles per kilogram.
Growth was recorded in the dairy category:
- Butter increased by 30 rubles, to 1075 ($12) rubles per kilogram.
- A liter of milk came to cost 93 ($1) rubles instead of 85 ($1).
- The average price of cheese rose from 840 ($9) to 921 ($10) rubles per kilogram.
A significant decrease affected vegetables:
- Potatoes became cheaper from 57 ($1) to 48 ($1) rubles per kilogram.
- Carrots — from 47 ($1) to 43 ($0) rubles.
- Cucumbers fell in price by 70 rubles, to 197 ($2) rubles.
- Tomatoes became cheaper from 228 ($3) to 192 ($2) rubles.
- White cabbage came to cost 35 ($0) rubles instead of 47 ($1).
On the fruit market, apples increased from 114 ($1) to 126 ($1) rubles per kilogram. Oranges, on the contrary, became cheaper from 201 ($2) to 164 ($2) rubles. Bananas became cheaper by 3 rubles, their average price in December 2025 was 164 ($2) rubles.
The situation with grains remained relatively stable:
- Semolina became cheaper by a ruble, to 56 ($1) rubles.
- Buckwheat increased slightly, to 62 ($1) rubles.
- The price of millet decreased from 52 ($1) to 47 ($1) rubles.
- Rice became cheaper more noticeably — from 107 ($1) to 84 ($1) rubles per kilogram.
According to experts, in 2026 the most noticeable price increase is expected for goods in complex packaging, such as bottled water and yogurts, as well as for imported products.
