The events in the main building of RSU have become a tradition and haven«t changed for many years. On the morning of 25 January, a divine liturgy is held at the Church of Saint Tatiana the Martyr, and in the afternoon — student festivities with dancing, competitions, and tea with cake.

Among the competitions — folk games testing accuracy, for example, throwing a ball into small cups. But the most notable tradition is the race of Tatyanas. The main thing is that the outcome is known in advance — a Tatiana will win. This year, five Tatyanas participated in the race. A good tradition that has existed for many years is the charity fair. There, toys and handicrafts made by hand by students and teachers of RSU are sold, with the proceeds going to the military.

Associate professor of the history department Yulia Savosina bought two ginger cats at the fair. And she took photos with them against the background of a third — a scholar«s cat, which she hadn»t seen at RSU before.

Yulia Savosina has always celebrated Tatiana«s Day at RSU — initially as a student, and now as a teacher.

«I graduated from the university in 2007. Then I entered graduate school, then I started working here right away, so I»ve been working here all my life in the department of Russian history at the Institute of History, Philosophy, and Political Sciences. And every year on 25 January, we celebrate here,« says Yulia.

She believes that the holiday is a people«s one because everyone has been a student, and many have to learn constantly throughout their lives.

Earlier we wrote about the most unusual traditions and superstitions that exist among students and cadets of higher educational institutions in the Ryazan region.
