Volgograd Man Beats Elderly Mother to Death on January 2
Medical personnel worked for three weeks to save the life of the 76-year-old woman from Volgograd.
A criminal case has been initiated in Volgograd against a 37-year-old man. He is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on his own mother; the woman died in the hospital from her injuries.
«On 2 January, a 76-year-old woman was taken to the hospital from a house on Titova Street with a head injury and bilateral rib fractures,» the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Volgograd Region reported. «Three weeks later, the woman died from her injuries. Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 111 of the Russian Criminal Code, »Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim through negligence.«»
Investigators and operatives detained a 37-year-old man, the son of the deceased woman, on suspicion of committing this crime. He already had a previous conviction for inflicting grievous bodily harm and could not clearly explain to investigators why he beat his mother so brutally, blaming it on sudden aggression.
The investigation has already stated that it intends to go to court with a request to arrest the suspect.
