Violent attack in Ilovlya: two assailants on video

Surveillance camera footage captured the brutal beating of two passers-by in the settlement of Ilovlya, Volgograd Region. In the frames, two men, who according to unconfirmed reports are referred to as a former police officer and a criminal authority from the 1990s, address each other as «father» and «son». The incident occurred on the night of January 13–14.

The victims, who contacted journalists, do not rule out that the attackers may be involved in another high-profile case — the beating of teenagers near the House of Culture in the khutor of Krasnodonsky, located 14 kilometers from Ilovlya. Recently, a man was arrested there, accused of organizing an attack by boxers on four tenth-graders during a disco.

According to local residents, the detainee was trying to take revenge for a conflict that the schoolchildren had with his son. It is said that the boy repeatedly boasted about his father«s connections. The victims of the beating in Ilovlya claim that the attackers are relatives of those who organized the violent attack in Krasnodonsky.

However, in the official statement from the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (GUMVD), only two of the four people visible in the video are mentioned. In the footage provided by the police, two people are also present, and one of them has an object in his hand resembling a pistol.

As explained by Anton Fedotov, acting head of the information and public relations department, only one person is currently involved in the criminal case under Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Intentional infliction of moderate harm to health»). A prohibition on certain actions was chosen as a preventive measure for him.

«This citizen does not serve in the internal affairs bodies,» the department clarified.
