Tula woman loses 3 million rubles to scammers

Eight people in Tula Region were swindled by fraudsters in the past 24 hours, with total damages surpassing 5 million rubles ($54,100). The biggest victim was a 55-year-old woman who transferred nearly 3 million rubles ($30,500) after being misled about pension recalculations.

Over the past day, eight residents of Tula Region have contacted the police after falling victim to scammers. The victims« ages range from 21 to 71. The total damage exceeded 5 million 142 thousand rubles (approximately $54,100 at current rates).

The largest sum was lost by a 55-year-old resident of the Leninsky settlement in Tula. According to her, the fraudsters contacted her through a popular messaging app and misled her under the pretext of recalculating her work history. As a result, the woman transferred 2 million 900 thousand rubles (about $30,500) to various accounts.

The police remind that when communicating with strangers, including over the phone and in messaging apps, it is necessary to remain vigilant. Citizens are advised not to discuss their savings with outsiders, not to share bank card details with third parties, and not to register on suspicious websites that request personal and financial data. Law enforcement officials emphasize: under no circumstances should money be transferred on the instructions of strangers.
