In the Privokzalny district of Tula, preparations are underway for a court hearing in a criminal case against two female employees aged 43 and 48, due to whose fault children nearly died from carbon monoxide poisoning. This was reported by the press service of the regional prosecutor«s office.
Both women worked for an individual entrepreneur as inspectors-receivers of stovepipe work. That is, they were supposed to check the functionality of stove equipment in houses.
During the period from November 28 to December 2, 2024, in violation of the employment contract, they did not conduct a check for the presence of draft in the smoke channel in house No. 10 on Pushkin Street, in the Kosaya Gora settlement (Tula).
As a result of their negligent attitude, carbon monoxide accumulated in the apartment due to the operation of a water heater. This nearly led to the death of two children born in 2011 and 2017, as well as their mother. They were saved thanks to timely medical assistance.
The investigation was conducted from 2024 and has only now concluded. After the incident, the employees tried to hide the traces of the crime by backdating a document about the conducted inspection. There, they also indicated that the equipment was faulty and needed to be urgently disconnected.
Now, the criminal case on providing services that do not meet safety requirements has been transferred to court. Both women face up to two years of imprisonment.
