In Novomoskovsk, the investigation into a criminal case concerning an armed robbery has been completed. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor«s office of the Tula region.

On the evening of October 28, a 40-year-old resident of Tula, presenting himself as a law enforcement officer, came to the home of a 56-year-old woman. He then began strangling the woman and threatening her, demanding that she hand over any money she had.

Fearing for her life, the woman complied with the attacker«s demands and gave him 400,000 rubles (approx. $4,400) she had in the house. Furthermore, she handed over her phone with access to a banking app — the man used it to transfer another 7,900 rubles (approx. $88) to his own card.

He then fled the crime scene. He spent the stolen money at his own discretion.

Police later detained the robber. It was revealed that the man had been repeatedly convicted for armed robbery. A criminal case for robbery with the use of violence was initiated.

Under this charge, and considering his prior convictions, the man faces up to 12 years of imprisonment.
