Prosecutor Seeks 18 Years for Stepfather in Child Abuse Trial

A Ural resident, a former participant in the special military operation (SVO), faces a long prison term on charges of sexually abusing a child. The judicial investigation of this criminal case under a serious article is coming to an end. We have previously detailed this story.

A mother of three from Yekaterinburg accused her ex-husband of sexually harassing her son and stated that he forced the boy and his sister to watch pornography. Moreover, this became known completely by chance, after a routine appointment with a psychologist.

12-year-old Dima (name changed) is a promising athlete, a member of the Sverdlovsk Oblast team in one of the adaptive sports. The boy has health problems, a disability related to the musculoskeletal system, but he studies in a regular school and has been successfully involved in sports since early childhood.

Coaches suggested seeking a psychologist. They noticed that Dima had changed, started behaving unusually, became withdrawn, distracted, and lost motivation. Nothing serious was suspected at the time; it was thought that the reason for the changes was adolescence. To help her son understand himself and work on motivation, his mother went to a specialist. After several sessions, the boy confessed terrible things to the psychologist: that he had been subjected to sexual abuse by his stepfather, who also forced him and his sister to watch porn films.

At that time, the man no longer lived with this family; the spouses had divorced. The boy«s mother contacted the Investigative Committee. Initially, the military department handled the case, since the suspect is a former SVO fighter, a contract soldier, who returned after being wounded and was discharged. During a search, among a large number of sex toys, various women»s wigs, skirts, tops, tights, and prosthetic breasts were found at the man«s home.

A criminal case was initiated under Article 132, Part 4 (violent sexual acts against a minor). We know that the investigation established at least four criminal episodes.

After the investigation, the case was transferred to court. The prosecutor requested 18 years of imprisonment for the accused. In the interests of the child, the trial was closed.

Lawyer Sergey Teterin, who represented the interests of the victim child, told E1.RU about how the trial proceeded. The defendant denied guilt, admitting only that he showed pornography for educational and upbringing purposes. The defense side filed a motion that the case should be returned to the prosecutor.

«The state prosecutor, and I, as the representative of the victims, believe that his guilt was objectively established and proven,» Sergey Teterin is confident. He shares some details. «What surprised me, even shocked me in this trial was the defendant»s statement. He denied the episodes [of sexual abuse, specific actions], except for showing pornography for educational purposes. And then suddenly declared: «I treated the boy like my own son. When I played with him, sometimes I bit him on the butt during the game» — that«s a verbatim quote. The boy at that time was not an infant; he was ten years old! It is quite possible that the child did not even tell us everything.»

The verdict in this case will be delivered soon.
