Police file first criminal case against stencil vandal

In Krasnoyarsk, for the first time, a criminal case has been opened against a stencil vandal for advertising drug shops on building walls. Previously, such cases ended with administrative penalties, police say.
Operatives detained a 30-year-old suspect red-handed while he was painting one of the houses in the Zheleznodorozhny district.
He admitted his guilt and said that in this way he had «decorated» 20 buildings in the area.
Investigators from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs «Krasnoyarsk» have opened a criminal case on signs of a crime under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraphs «a», «g» of Part 4 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Attempted illegal sale of narcotic drugs, committed by an organized group, on a large scale.»
Under this article, the maximum penalty is deprivation of liberty for up to 20 years.
City residents often complain about stencil vandals. In one of our articles, we reported on the brazen advertising of hallucinogenic mushrooms in Central Park — advertisements were hung on almost every other pole there.
