In the Volzhsky District of the region, a domestic conflict ended in a death. A woman was shot dead. The common-law husband of the deceased, a 43-year-old resident of the village of Pod«em-Mikhailovka, was put on trial for the murder.

It all happened in July 2025. A domestic dispute broke out between the defendant and his common-law wife. During the quarrel, the man took a shotgun and fired two shots: one, without aiming, upward, and the second into the wooden wall of the house«s annex.

«The shot pierced the structure, as a result of which the woman, who was in the annex, sustained a gunshot wound and died at the scene,» the regional prosecutor«s office said.

A criminal case was opened against the man for murder, as well as illegal acquisition and storage of ammunition for firearms. The Volzhsky District Court sentenced the guilty party to seven years in a strict-regime penal colony. The court also ordered 2 million rubles (about $28,600 at current rates) to be paid to the mother of the killed woman.

At the end of 2025, a trial over the murder of an elderly woman concluded in Samara. The son of the pensioner and his cohabitant were found guilty.
