Man in Izhevsk gets 8 years for attempting to sell mephedrone

A 30-year-old man in Izhevsk has been sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony for attempting to sell a large batch of drugs. Operatives found over a kilogram of illegal substances in his garage.

In Izhevsk, a 30-year-old local resident was sentenced for attempting to traffic drugs on a large scale. The joint press service of the courts of Udmurtia reported this.

According to available information, in September 2025, the man purchased a large batch of drugs weighing over one and a half kilograms from an unknown person. He found a package containing mephedrone in one of the caches located in the Udmurt Republic, as per the seller«s instructions.

Subsequently, the convicted man planned to independently sell the purchased drugs. To this end, he bought the necessary packaging materials and installed an app on his phone that allows taking photos with geolocation tags.

However, his grand plans were not destined to succeed. Officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) found and seized the illegal substances.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Russian Criminal Code – «Attempted illegal sale of narcotic drugs on a particularly large scale».

During the hearing, the detained man pleaded guilty. The Ustinovsky District Court sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime colony.
