Materials have been submitted to the Supreme Court of Bashkortostan in the case of Ivan Kirillov, who was found guilty of extortion. In criminal circles, he is known as the man who killed the authority from Ufa«s Dema district, Mukatdar Adigamov, on January 31, 2008. How Kirillov dealt with him and where he ended up—in the UFA1.RU report.

Mukatdar Adigamov was more often called Mikhail. He assembled his team in Ufa back in the 1980s: he opened a sambo and judo hall where he selected the most capable guys. He himself had been fond of wrestling since childhood and even earned the title of master of sports.

At the time of his death, Adigamov was already 57 years old.

Moreover, if Adigam«s students were caught for extortion and robbery, the coach himself remained out of reach of the law. Formally, he was engaged in sports and entrepreneurial activities, but many residents of Dema considered him the overseer, although that term usually referred to vor v zakone (thieves-in-law), which he did not belong to.

Locals knew where to go to pay homage if they needed help. The base of Adigamov«s group was the restaurant »Olimp«. There one could find Uncle Misha himself, as the young athletes respectfully called him. However, not everyone was happy with his rule.

Attempts were made on the «godfather» of Dema more than once, but he, albeit with losses, managed to escape. Once, Adigamov«s car, as his son told, was shot up, killing several assistants of the coach-businessman. But the leader himself was not in the car since he, as if sensing trouble, refused the trip at the last moment.

Adigam lived until the 2000s, when the criminal situation, compared to the «wild» 1990s, calmed down. According to close associates, he was very pleased with this fact and called himself «the last of the authorities» since almost all the others had retired from business, either ending up behind bars or simply disappearing.

But then Adigamov met Ivan Kirillov—at that time still a 25-year-old boxer. According to one version, one of the residents of Dema complained to Adigamov about Kirillov, who did not wait for money from the sale of a car. Mikhail tried to rein in the «young one,» but unsuccessfully. As Ivan«s father said, the Dema authority and his henchmen wanted to subdue the boxer and »didn«t give him a pass.»

On January 31, 2008, Kirillov showed up at Adigamov«s home. He lived with his new wife and was about to walk the dog. The uninvited guest did not come empty-handed—he shot the owner in the leg and took him outside, where he put him in a car with waiting accomplices.

Adigamov was taken to another district of the city—Chernikovka. Kirillov led him into one of the houses, where the last of the authorities met his death. A gunshot wound to the thigh, broken ribs, a bruised head, and a cut throat—in such a state Kirillov left him behind.

The boxer himself later claimed that he did not intend to kill. According to his version, Adigamov, angered by how he was treated, attacked Kirillov, and he only defended himself. Nevertheless, the court qualified what happened as kidnapping and murder. In addition, he was accused of illegal possession of weapons.

Kirillov was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in a strict regime correctional colony. His companions received five years each, since the court believed that they did not know about their accomplice«s plans. Adigamov»s wife tried to challenge this decision in the Supreme Court of Russia, but the sentence was left unchanged.

At Uncle Misha«s funeral, almost all of Dema gathered; in the crowd that came to honor his memory, one could notice other major businessmen and even officials. At the same time, discord began among Adigamov»s group. A few months after the leader«s death, one of his closest associates, Rafael Galiullin, was killed.

Galiullin was shot by a former member of the gang who had recently been released and, according to one version, hoped that he was entitled to a reward for loyalty. Later, fighters one after another ended up on the defendant«s bench for extortion.

The decline of the Adigamov era could be noted by the explosion in the Dema cafe where that very «Olimp» once was. This happened just 9 months after the death of the gang leader. According to one version, a local resident, who was allegedly the son of one of the gang members, threw a grenade into the establishment when competitors were enjoying their leisure time there.

But officially, the motive was determined only as «personal dislike.» According to the investigators« conclusion, the grenade thrower simply wanted to »scare an acquaintance.« Fortunately, no one died. Only 1 out of 18 people who were in the cafe at the time of the explosion was injured. A fragment hit him in the leg. The perpetrator was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, and after release he again ended up in a colony—already for murder.

Ivan Kirillov, who overthrew Adigamov, also served his sentence for murder, but later again found himself behind bars. According to the investigation, he and four other people took money and buses from private carriers in Ufa to organize an intercity route themselves. In September 2025, the Ufa court found them guilty of extortion.

However, the defendants are trying to appeal the verdict. On January 20, a statement from Kirillov about reducing the punishment was submitted to the Supreme Court of the republic. The hearing is scheduled for February 4. Also, in the higher instance, a separate consideration of the court«s verdict in the case as a whole—on the appeal from all the defendants—has been appointed. It was supposed to begin on January 22, but it was also postponed to February.
