Kidnapped Son of Krasnoyarsk Businessman Found

The kidnapped 14-year-old son of Krasnoyarsk businessman Andrei Kaplia has been found, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee.

«He is alive and was in a rented apartment with a girl. We are clarifying all circumstances,» the department said.

Updated. The apartment is located on Krasnoyarsky Rabochy Avenue, clarified Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) representative Irina Volk. She used the phrase «allegedly kidnapped» regarding the boy. Currently, nothing threatens the child, added Volk, other details are being clarified.

As reported earlier, on the evening of January 22, the businessman«s son left his home in Serebryany Bor »in an unknown direction with an unknown person.« That evening, the boy»s father received a message via a messaging app that his son had been kidnapped and a ransom of 30 million rubles (approximately $300,000 at current rates) was demanded.

Meanwhile, three million rubles (approximately $30,000 at current rates) went missing from the safes in the family home. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on kidnapping, and the prosecutor«s office began an inspection. Investigators found out that before the disappearance, the boy left by taxi with a girl.

One version is that the teenager became a victim of fraudsters. The child recorded a video appeal to his father, where he asked to do everything that was requested.

Earlier, NGS24.RU reported that the teenager«s father Andrei Kaplia is the »king of government contracts« and one of the richest businessmen in the region. According to the service »Kontur.Fokus«, he owns major Krasnoyarsk firms »NBS-Sibir« and »Avtospetsmash«. The businessman did not link his son»s disappearance to his activities.
