Margarita (name changed. — Ed.) claims that at the train station in Rostov, a Kalmykia resident offered her a job on his farm. During the conversation, he allegedly got her drunk and took her to the republic. There, she was held on the farm for a month. Once, Margarita was allegedly raped by a relative of the owner. She was rescued by her common-law husband and volunteers. Margarita wrote a statement at the local police department about the rape. But she did not receive a ticket for registering the report in the KUSP (Unified Register of Crimes and Misdemeanors). Later, by phone, the same department told her that no such statement existed.

The Kalmykia MVD told a 161.RU journalist that internal security officers conducted an inspection. They were checking how lawful the actions of their colleagues in the department where Margarita wrote the statement were. But they did not share the results of the inspection with 161.RU, saying they were transferred «to the investigative authorities for a procedural decision.»

The republic«s police deny that Margarita wrote a statement about the rape.

«No appeals from the indicated female citizen, including about unlawful actions against her, have been received by the Kalmykia internal affairs bodies,» they stated.

No case was opened against Margarita for slandering police officers. But at the end of December, the republic«s MVD press service stated that an administrative case was opened against the woman under the article on abuse of freedom of mass information for »knowingly false reporting« and sent to court.

The Kalmykia Investigative Committee (SK) stated that they want to invite Margarita for a personal meeting, but she allegedly does not answer calls and messages. Therefore, investigators sent the case materials to the local Investigative Committee department, «where investigative measures are currently being carried out on the indicated report.»
