Fraudster Detained in Tula for Scamming Soldier's Wife

A 45-year-old man has been detained in Tula Region for allegedly defrauding the wife of a soldier serving in the special military operation by offering to ease his service for money.

In Tula Region, a fraudster who deceived the wife of a soldier in the special military operation under the pretext of easing military service was detained. This was reported by the regional office of the FSB (Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation).
The detainee turned out to be a 45-year-old previously convicted man, originally from another region of Russia.
For a large reward, he offered assistance to the soldier«s wife. Specifically, he claimed that he could arrange the transfer of a soldier, who is in the special military operation zone, from one unit to another.
For this, he asked for more than 1 million rubles (over $10,000 at current rates).
The man was detained by officers of the regional FSB office during the transfer of part of the funds.
At present, a criminal case on fraud on a particularly large scale has been initiated. The detainee is in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO). The man faces up to 10 years in prison.
