Fake Jewelry Triggers Violent Robbery in Balahov

In Balahov, a drinking buddy assaulted and robbed a new acquaintance out of a desire to continue the feast in a hostel stairwell. Details of the absurd robbery were reported on January 28 by the regional police department.

The attack occurred in a hostel on 20 Years of the Komsomol Street. A 38-year-old and a 33-year-old resident of Balahov met and became acquainted on the street. They decided to celebrate the meeting and went to the fifth-floor stairwell of the hostel, where they held a «banquet». When they needed more snacks and alcohol, the older woman took off her jewelry and suggested that her new friend take it to a pawnshop.

When she went there, it turned out that she had been given cheap costume jewelry. Then she returned to the hostel, assaulted her new friend, and took a silver chain with a cross and a phone from her, then went back to the pawnshop. The robbed and beaten woman subsequently reported to the police.

Police officers detained the 33-year-old attacker. She turned out to be a woman previously convicted for theft and robbery. A robbery case under Article 161 of the Russian Criminal Code has been initiated against the woman. She is detained until a preventive measure is chosen in court.
