Earlier, journalists from 45.RU reported that divorced spouses were detained in the region for taking entitled payments from participants of the special military operation. According to the investigation, a 47-year-old resident of Shumikha and his ex-wife devised the plan back in May 2024. They searched across the region for single men, misled them, and persuaded them to marry. As soon as the passport stamp was in place, the «wives» began actively pressuring the newly-minted husbands to go off to military service. Law enforcement was able to track them down after one of the sisters of a deceased man started searching for him.

During the investigation, the name of another participant was revealed — a 38-year-old resident of Sverdlovsk Oblast. She also acted as a «bride» for the deceived men. The woman has already given a confession. The court left her at liberty but prohibited certain actions.

The investigation is ongoing, and the regional prosecutor«s office has taken the case under special control. Investigators are checking how many more »fake widows« and deceived fighters might have appeared due to this group»s activities.

Recall that enterprising «brides» who deceive servicemen were discussed at the committee on social policy of the regional duma.
