Ex-Police Officers Sentenced for Murder and Body Concealment

In the Novosibirsk region, a verdict was passed against former police officers. They were found guilty of murder and a number of other crimes, according to the regional investigative committee.
The case involves two former officers of the Ust-Tarka police department. As explained by NGS in the Novosibirsk regional prosecutor«s office, the defendants in the case are Alexey Borozdin and Alexander Kuntz.
According to the investigation and court, in 2013, the two police officers unjustifiably used violence against a resident of Ust-Tarka district, Vladimir Potorokin. And then, to hide the crime, they killed him and concealed the body.
«In addition, one of the officers in 2021 unjustifiably used violence against another local resident, and also negligently performed his official duties during the operational support of one of the criminal cases,» the department reported.
It is specified that one of the police officers, using his official position, stole a weapon. Depending on their role and degree of participation, the former law enforcement officers were found guilty of negligence (Part 1, Article 293 of the Russian Criminal Code), murder by a group of persons (Point «zh» Part 2, Article 105), abuse of official authority (Point «a» Part 3, Article 286), and theft of firearms (Part 1, Article 226).
«TASS Siberia» reports, citing the prosecutor«s office, that Alexander Kuntz was sentenced to 16.5 years in a strict-regime colony, and Alexey Borozdin to 15.5 years. They were stripped of their special ranks.
Details about the murder from years ago were reported by NGS in a separate publication in 2024. According to the version, the police officers beat to death the villager Vladimir Potorokin, who claimed their involvement in the disappearance of 15-year-old schoolgirl Natalya Matyukhina.
