Ex-Convict Arrested in Urals for 1999 Couple Shooting

The Leninsky District Court arrested 59-year-old Serov resident Viktor Borozdin for two months. He has been charged with a double murder committed 26 years ago.

«According to the investigation, on the night of September 27, 1999, in the courtyard of a private house in the city of Aramil, the perpetrator killed a married couple during a conflict. The accused was previously acquainted with the victims. The man and woman were killed by gunshots from a firearm that the suspect had,» the Investigative Committee for Sverdlovsk Region reported.
After shooting the people, Viktor Borozdin fled the scene. His trail was found many years later thanks to the efforts of investigators and forensic experts. Borozdin has a rich criminal biography—murders, banditry, armed robbery.
«In 2002, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court sentenced him to a long term of imprisonment. He spent 18.5 years in penal colonies and was released from the Ivdel colony in 2019. If his guilt is confirmed, he will likely face another »long business trip« to places of isolation from society,» said Valery Gorelykh, official representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Region.
It is known that criminal investigation operatives detained Viktor Borozdin on January 21, with the force support of SOBR (Special Rapid Response Unit) fighters. Viktor did not open the door of the apartment where he lived with his partner for a long time. And when he finally realized it was better to surrender, he let the security forces in. The case was investigated by the 4th Department of Internal Affairs of the Sverdlovsk Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (for crimes of past years).
