Deputy Prosecutor General criticizes officials over crime increase in Novosibirsk Oblast

In Novosibirsk Oblast in 2025, the number of some types of crimes increased. This was reported on January 23 by Deputy Prosecutor General Sergey Zaytsev during a board meeting on the results of last year«s work. He noted that statistics point to shortcomings in the work of police and supervisory authorities.

He noted that in the region, the number of cases of grievous bodily harm resulting in death by negligence, robberies, and acts of hooliganism has increased. There are also more traffic violations that led to fatalities.

«At the same time, the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in detecting crimes characterized by high latency, including those committed in the housing and utilities sector (-41%), and in the implementation of national projects and federal programs has decreased,» noted Sergey Zaytsev.

According to him, the lowest crime detection rate in the district remains at 44%. This indicates a complex of shortcomings in the work of internal affairs bodies and insufficient measures on the part of the prosecutor.

«The total number of children»s suicide attempts has increased by one and a half times. In 18 cases, unfortunately, these attempts ended in death. All this should be thoroughly analyzed, and measures taken to optimize the work of the prevention system,« emphasized the Deputy Prosecutor General.

Last year, the number of children who committed criminal offenses increased by 10%. Moreover, the proportion of crimes by adolescents in overall violence and crime is higher than in the district and the country as a whole.

In December, the prosecutor«s office of Novosibirsk Oblast reported that in the first half of 2025, 180 adolescents were convicted in the region. Most often, they were found guilty of crimes against property.
