The Leninsky District Court of Tyumen handed down a guilty verdict to a local resident who blackmailed a minor girl using intimate photos and videos. The young man was found guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code.
The names of the trial participants have been changed in the publication.
As established during the proceedings, 18-year-old Stanislav met 17-year-old Arina in the summer of 2023 on social media. The girl informed him of her age from the very beginning. After several months of correspondence, they met in Tyumen in October, where they had sexual intercourse. According to the victim, Stanislav, with her consent, took intimate photos and videos at that moment.
Soon after, the Tyumen resident wrote to Arina in a messenger and demanded she transfer him 266 rubles (approximately $3 at current rates). For refusal, he threatened to send the compromising materials to her friends and relatives. The girl, knowing that the recordings existed, out of fear, fulfilled the demand. The next day, the perpetrator requested 1,000 rubles (approximately $11 at current rates), which were also transferred to him.
A few days later, the demands escalated. That same night, continuing the blackmail, Stanislav forced Arina into sexual intercourse, writing that she «belongs only to him» and must obey, otherwise the photos would be seen by strangers. Simultaneously, he demanded 35,000 rubles (approximately $389 at current rates) from her.
The investigation also showed that on the same day, the accused sent the girl«s intimate photos to his acquaintance on VKontakte. The young man who received the photos immediately deleted them and asked about the purpose of such forwarding. In response, Stanislav stated: »Just to show off.«
The court qualified Stanislav«s actions under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: extortion, coercion into sexual acts with a minor, and illegal dissemination of private life information. As punishment, he was sentenced to two years of imprisonment suspended with a probation period of 1.5 years. The smartphone used for blackmail and sending the photos was also confiscated.
