In the Tula region, a man was convicted for stealing seven packs of coffee from a Pyaterochka store in Uzlovaya. This was reported by the joint press service of the regional judicial system.

The theft occurred on December 18 during the day. The man stole from the sales floor four packs of instant coffee and three packs of freeze-dried coffee of the Nescafe brand. He carried all this past the checkout without paying.

The amount of damage caused to the store was 4,879 rubles 93 kopecks (approximately $54 at current rates). Later, the thief was detained.

The court sentenced the man to 7 months of imprisonment in a colony-settlement. This decision was influenced by the thief«s prior conviction — however, he had never before served time in prison.

During the trial, the man stated that he repents of his actions.

In Tula, «Cafeteria No. 1» on Lenin Avenue may be temporarily closed. The reason is multiple violations of sanitary norms and the institution operating without notifying the authorities.
