The bodies of a 56-year-old woman and her two children, aged 23 and 21, were found in a private house on Ukrainskaya Street in the Paromny settlement of Volzhsky.
The press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (SKR) for the Volgograd region reported that the discovery occurred on January 22.
According to preliminary information, the house is gasified and heated using a gas boiler and a wood-burning stove. During the inspection, the stove was not working, and the ventilation channel damper was in a closed position and may have been faulty. Since the windows and entrance door were closed, combustion products likely accumulated inside. Experts believe that all three died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
A criminal case has been initiated over the incident under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Russian Criminal Code (causing death by negligence to two or more persons).
