Achinsk man sentenced for murdering ex-wife and lover

A resident of Achinsk, who killed his wife and her new partner, has been sentenced.
According to the investigation, the family was in the process of divorce. A 31-year-old woman was already living with another man, a 45-year-old. Early in the morning on February 9, the Achinsk man came to the entrance of the building where they lived and waited for the couple to exit the apartment onto the stairwell.
At that moment, as reported by the Investigative Committee, the man attacked his ex-wife«s new companion and stabbed him several times. The woman managed to run out of the entrance, but her ex-husband caught up with her in the yard and stabbed her in the neck. Both victims died on the spot from their wounds.
After that, the Achinsk man returned to his home, where he tried to commit suicide. He was found by relatives and taken to the hospital.
The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under point «a» part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (murder of two persons). On December 11, the court sentenced the Achinsk man to 19 years and 2 months in a strict regime colony.
The killed woman left behind a young daughter. The convicted man is her father.
The mother of the killed Achinsk resident, who witnessed the brutal murder of her daughter, fears that her son-in-law might kill her and her granddaughter.
“Rumors reached me: he said that if my granddaughter Eva is not given to his parents, he will kill us all. If he goes to the special military operation, a verdict on deprivation of parental rights will not be issued. When he returns from the special military operation, he also will not face any punishment and will be able to take my granddaughter for himself. She knows that he killed her mother, and says: ‘How could he do this to me, since I love my mommy so much,’” the woman said in tears.
