A schoolgirl from Berezniki, who gave birth to a child in a bathroom, strangled it, and then threw it from a balcony, has been sentenced. She was given one year of restricted freedom.

On August 12, the body of an infant was found near a five-story building in Berezniki. It turned out that the baby girl was born by a 16-year-old schoolgirl Varya (name changed) in a bathroom, wrapped in a towel, and thrown out the window. Initially, the girl was suspected of causing death by negligence. But after examinations, investigators established that the mother strangled her own daughter and dropped her from the fifth floor.

A journalist from 59.RU visited the scene and spoke with the neighbors of the accused girl. They said that there were no complaints about the schoolgirl, she is from a good, well-off family. Due to holidays, neighbors rarely saw her and no one knew about her pregnancy. On August 12, one of the neighbors was waiting for an ambulance when she heard a thud from the impact of the child hitting the ground. She says that the doctors who arrived tried to resuscitate the baby girl, but they were unable to do so.

«We only saw the child«s corpse: a full-term, very beautiful girl. There are few such children, some are a bit ugly, but the girl was very beautiful, good,» said Oksana to 59.RU.

Another acquaintance of Varya—18-year-old Tatyana, who was pregnant herself at the time of the incident, shared correspondence with the girl. Varya told her that she had a panic, she didn«t know what to do, and her mother didn»t know about the pregnancy. Also, Tatyana said that Varya strongly blamed herself after what happened.

Today, investigators from the Investigative Committee of Russia for Perm Krai reported that the schoolgirl who killed the child has been sentenced. The girl was found guilty of murdering a newborn child. She was given one year of restricted freedom. This means that she cannot leave home at certain times, cannot visit some places, cannot travel outside Perm Krai, and other restrictions.
