Prosecutor General's Office files lawsuit to nationalize packaging producer
The Prosecutor General«s Office of the Russian Federation has filed a lawsuit with the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg seeking the nationalization of the business of Pechatnya Printing House LLC.
On 20 January, the court decided to freeze 100% of the shares of this company, which operates a large production facility for paper and cardboard products.
The prosecution demands that a 2023 purchase and sale agreement between the previous owner — the Belize-registered firm Werdelia Holdings Limited — and Pechatnya«s general director Irina Rudenya be declared invalid. The agency also insists on the joint recovery of 1.1 billion rubles (about $12.2 million at current rates) from Werdelia Holdings Limited and two individuals: Alexander Timokhin and Sergei Kim.
The first hearing in the case is scheduled for 13 February. As a security measure, in addition to the freezing of shares, the court imposed restrictions on the company«s activities:
- Pechatnya»s accounts, movable and immovable property have been frozen;
- management is prohibited from reorganizing the legal entity, opening new bank accounts, or halting the production process;
- Irina Rudenya is prohibited from leaving Russia.
The Federal Tax Service cannot make any changes to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities regarding the company, and Rosreestr cannot perform registration actions for real estate objects belonging to Rudenya.
The company Pechatnya was founded in 2000. It produces cardboard packaging, paper inserts, self-adhesive labels, and also prints on blister foil. Its primary customers are pharmaceutical, food, and perfume-cosmetics enterprises. According to the SPARK database, the company«s revenue in 2024 amounted to 9.3 billion rubles (about $103.3 million at current rates), with a net profit of 2.2 billion rubles (about $24.4 million at current rates).
Irina Rudenya has held the position of general director since 2016. It was not possible to reach her for comment at the time this article was prepared.
