Authorities in Kemerovo Oblast have approved the implementation of an investment project in Guryevsk for the construction of a semi-coking plant. The project will cost nearly 700 million rubles (approximately $7.8 million at current rates), NGS42 reported on Wednesday, January 28, in response to a query to the Ministry of Economic Development.
The allocated land for the plant spans approximately 81,000 square meters in Guryevsk.

According to the project, construction of the semi-coking plant is planned to begin in Guryevsk on Zhdanov Street, near railway tracks. Authorities have permitted the erection on a site covering almost 81,000 square meters.
“The implementation of the investment project will attract additional extra-budgetary investments amounting to 691.5 million rubles (approximately $7.7 million at current rates),” states the response to the query.
The exact start dates for the work are not reported, but it is known that the project must be implemented by spring 2029.
The project was coordinated with the authorities by Tephoenergomash LLC, registered in Novokuznetsk in 2021. The company is not actively operating, with a net loss of 2,000 rubles (approximately $22 at current rates) for 2024.
In the Kuzbass region, a similar enterprise exists in Leninsk-Kuznetsky; the plant has been operating since 1941. It produces about 200 tons of fuel per day, which is used in metallurgical production.
According to Kuzbass State Technical University (KuzGTU), like any other chemical plant, the enterprise can affect the environment, with air pollution due to the burning of phenolic waters and the boiler house.
As NGS42 reported earlier, coke and chemicals bring considerable profit to the Kuzbass budget.
