We continue to share the stories of Tyumen animals in need of a home. Today, we introduce you to Nika and Sera—cats with a tough but honest fate, residents of the Tyumen Cat Cafe.

Nika lived with 14 other cats owned by a Tyumen resident. The man cared for the animals, but at some point, due to health issues, he lost his sight. He refused to abandon the animals, and that«s when volunteers stepped in.

«Social workers contacted us with a request to take the cats, as the owner could no longer care for them but didn»t trust anyone. The man refused to go to the hospital until he found a place for them,« said the owner of the private shelter from which Nika ended up in the cat cafe.

The cats were brought to the volunteers in bags. At that time, they looked as shown in the photo below.

The cats were delivered in bags and looked scared when they first reached the volunteers.

Sera was dumped on the shelter grounds as a kitten along with her brother and sister. They were so wild that they had to be caught with a trap. Now, her brother and sister have found homes, and Sera lives in the cat cafe waiting for her person.

«Both are fond of hiding; they love to tuck themselves away. Introverts who need coaxing,» says Anastasia Kharlamova, the owner of the cat cafe, about her charges.

You can meet Nika and Sera, and potentially adopt them, here.

Previously, we featured seven cats from the volunteer fund «Poteryashki» («Lost Ones»). Some of them were prisoners of dysfunctional «shelters,» while others were found abandoned near dumpsters. After the publication, some have already been taken home, but some are still looking for a home.
