Moose October to enter rehabilitation center near Moscow

In the village of October in the Nekouz district of Yaroslavl region, local residents found a moose that had fallen through the ice of a pond. Although the animal was pulled out, it could not move on its own.
Concerned people arranged a bedding of hay for the moose, covered it with blankets, and began bringing it food and water. For several days, the moose, which they named October, stayed on the outskirts of the settlement.
To save the animal, activists turned to various services. Hunting inspectors and veterinarians joined the effort, examined the moose, and noted its stable condition. However, stress from proximity to people was slowing its recovery.
Specialists decided to move the moose to a forest area to reduce stress. «At the moment, supervision has been organized for the moose. The food supply is being renewed. Yesterday, a veterinary service employee injected vitamins, glucose, painkillers, and antibiotics,» reported the Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources of the region.
Activists considered it unacceptable to leave the immobilized animal in the forest. To rescue it, a fundraiser was organized for transportation to Moscow region and veterinary accompaniment.
The department confirmed that documents are currently being processed to transport moose October to the «Bely Los» (White Moose) rehabilitation center in the Moscow region. «At the rehabilitation center, it will be provided with constant care by specialists,» explained the ministry.
