Cat Saved from Euthanasia Awaits Adoption in Omsk

The cat, named Burzhuy, has a pensive face and round orange cheeks that liken him to a mandarin duck.
Volunteers in Omsk are searching for a new home for a red cat that its previous owners planned to euthanize. The story of the little predator named Burzhuy was shared on social media by the private shelter «ZooSpas.»
«A wonderful kitty. Affectionate, playful, purry. He was recently brought to the veterinary clinic by a »kind« grandmother-owner. A completely healthy cat was dragged in for euthanasia, for reasons unknown to us. We took him to the shelter. He is being placed in responsible hands with unobtrusive tracking of his fate. A contract is concluded for the transfer of the animal to a new owner,» said the «ZooSpas» community on the social network VKontakte.
Now the mustached one is three years old, he is completely healthy, treated for parasites, sterilized, and knows how to use the litter box. Burzhuy happily eats meat, cottage cheese, eggs, and dry food. In the photos, the cat has a thoughtful expression on his face, and thanks to his round red cheeks, he resembles a mandarin duck.
Volunteers emphasize that before deciding to get a pet, one needs to weigh many factors — whether the landlords of a rented apartment will object (if potential cat owners live in a rental), allergies, the presence of small children, moving to another city, and more.
In the summer, we spoke with the owner of «ZooSpas,» Olga Tingileva, about where so many abandoned animals come from, who they are given to, and how much it costs to maintain the cat population. You can read the report from the shelter here.
