Yakutia Records World's Lowest Temperature

The lowest temperatures on Earth on February 4 were recorded in Berdigestyakh, Nyurba, and Suntar. This was reported by the Yakutsk Hydrometeorological Center.
The first place was shared by the Nyurbinsky and Suntarsky ulus (districts), where the temperature dropped to -52 degrees Celsius (-62°F). The third place in the global ranking went to the weather station in the Srednekolymsky ulus, specifically in Berdigestyakh, where the reading fell to -50 degrees Celsius (-58°F).
In 12 other observation points, temperatures from -45 to -49 degrees Celsius (-49 to -56°F) were recorded: in Batagay, Lensk, Bestyakhskaya Zveroferma (fur farm), Vilyuysk, Mirny, Pokrovsk, Ytyk-Kyuyol, Tyanya, Khabardino, Verkhoyansk, Tommot, and Verkhnevilyuysk.
In Yakutsk, the air temperature on February 4 was -39 degrees Celsius (-38°F). There is fog outside. Earlier, meteorologist Sargylana Nikitina warned that cold weather would set in over most of Yakutia this week, and that this is within the normal range for the region.
