Spring in the Tula Region promises to be flood-prone. Residents were warned by the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet).
Thus, the region is in the «red zone» of risk. The cause is the huge amount of snow that fell in late December 2025 and January 2026.
Flooding is expected in the beds of the Upa and Oka rivers. Experts believe that ice jams may form on the water, preventing it from flowing downstream. This could lead to flooding of the banks.
Similar events have periodically occurred in Tula, leading to closures under the Proletarsky Bridge.
In addition to the Tula Region, flooding is expected in other regions of Central Russia, Siberia, and the Far East.
For now, residents of Tula are not threatened by rivers overflowing their banks — the region is currently experiencing abnormal cold. Contrary to early forecasts, February has turned out not warm but very frosty.
