February in Samara Oblast began with weather records. On 3 February, several weather stations in the region broke historical daily precipitation records.

A table from the Volga UGMS details daily precipitation records.

In Bolshaya Glushitsa, 21.4 mm of precipitation was recorded. The previous record from 2021 was 9.7 mm. That is more than double.
Sernovodsk recorded 13.4 mm compared to the previous maximum of 6.6 mm, and in Avangard, 15.5 mm fell versus 8.7 mm in 2021.
The «deviation» column in the table shows how many millimeters the new record exceeded the old. In Bolshaya Glushitsa, the difference was 11.7 mm.
This means that in just one day, some areas of the region received a significant portion of the average monthly precipitation for February, which, according to meteorologists, ranges from 18 to 43 mm.
The snowfall on 3 February and the subsequent frosts became the first serious test of winter. Earlier, the Volga Federal District Hydrometeorological Service (Privolzhskoye UGMS) warned that February is a month of surprises: it can bring thaws up to +12 °C (53.6 °F), frosts down to −40 °C (−40 °F), and blizzards that can last up to 12 days. Judging by the start of the month, one of these scenarios is already unfolding.
