«EkoTekhnologii» — the largest Voronezh regional operator for solid municipal waste (SMW) — made an official statement to its customers on January 31: due to «unfavorable weather conditions,» special equipment cannot reach container sites, and garbage will not be removed from many of them today. Photos of overflowing garbage bins drifting in snowdrifts — with the address and time of shooting indicated — are attached. And to leave no doubt — a video of a tractor spinning its wheels. Residents were asked to understand and wait.

«As soon as the passages are cleared and access to the sites is provided, SMW removal will be carried out as quickly as possible and in full,» assured «EkoTekhnologii». «To speed up the process, additional special equipment — front loaders and dump trucks — and work crews will be involved.»

From a sanitation standpoint, there«s no immediate cause for complaint. The temporary storage period for unsorted SMW is regulated by SanPiN 2.1.3684-21 and depends on the average daily temperature over three days. If it»s +5°C (41°F) and above, garbage can be stored for no more than a day, and if it«s +4°C (39.2°F) and below — a maximum of three days. Given the current frost, the utility workers still have time.

Maybe during winter «anomalies» utility payments will be canceled too?

Meanwhile, on January 28, deputies of the committee on construction policy, housing and utilities, energy, and tariffs, chaired by Sergei Lukin, met in the regional parliament — along with regional utility officials, including Minister Yevgeny Bazhanov. He reported that the three waste operators in the region have a total of 474 units of special equipment, and it is almost half — 48.6% — worn out. And Governor Alexander Gusev, let us recall, warned all those involved in maintaining road and utility order on the eve: no collapses — we«re testing on professional suitability.
