Orange Danger Level Declared in Samara Oblast

With temperatures dropping, scarves and hats become vital for warmth in the coming days.
Residents of Samara and the oblast are urged to be cautious from January 23 to 27. The regional Emergency Ministry and meteorologists have jointly warned citizens about abnormal frosts.

The Emergency Ministry urges residents to exercise caution during the severe frosts.
“A storm warning has been received from the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Privolzhskoye Hydrometeorological Service». An orange danger level has been declared. From January 23 to 27, in some parts of Samara Oblast, abnormally cold weather is expected with average daily air temperatures 9 degrees Celsius or more below the climatic norm,” reported the Main Directorate of the Emergency Ministry for Samara Oblast.
How to behave if there is abnormal frost outside? Here are some simple rules:
Before going outside, don«t forget to dress warmly: wear a hat, scarf, and mittens.
Shoes should be loose and dry.
Thermal clothing will keep you warmer.
Do not wear metal jewelry in the frost, as it cools down faster than skin.
If you get cold, return home or go indoors.
Hot tea is great for warming up after a walk.
According to forecasts from the Privolzhskoye Hydrometeorological Service, tomorrow, January 22, daytime temperatures in the region will be -9 to -14 °C (16 to 7 °F).
On Friday, January 23, daytime air temperature will be -14 to -19 °C (7 to -2 °F).
On Saturday, January 24, daytime temperatures are expected to be -17 to -22 °C (1 to -8 °F).
On Sunday, January 25, night frosts will hit up to -32 degrees Celsius (-26 °F). During the day, it will be slightly warmer: -19 to -24 °C (-2 to -11 °F).
“In the second half of the week, the strengthening of a ridge of the Siberian anticyclone will lead to a cessation of precipitation and a return of frosts to the Volga region,” explained meteorologists.
