Starting Thursday morning, February 5, an emergency warning is in effect in the Ryazan Region due to fog and frosts. The minimum air temperature outside reaches -33°C (-27°F), according to the regional Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (TsGMS).

Fog with visibility down to 200 meters is also expected.

It may feel even colder due to a southwest wind with gusts up to seven meters per second. This is considered not strong but noticeable wind in frosty conditions.

Temperatures 7 to 12 degrees below the climatic norm will persist in the Ryazan Region until February 6. Due to the frosts, an orange level of danger remains in effect in the region.

The emergency warning may be extended.

According to the official warning posted on the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) of Russia for the Region, in addition to extreme frosts, freezing drizzle and fog are expected. The weather conditions will significantly reduce visibility on roads — in some areas it may drop to 200–700 meters. Rescuers warn that this creates increased risks for all road users.

Due to the unfavorable forecast, the Main Directorate of the MChS urges residents of the region to exercise extreme caution. Recommendations include:

Avoid prolonged stays outdoors if possible.

  • Do not stop under building eaves, advertising structures, power lines, or trees due to the risk of ice collapse.

  • Be especially careful on the roads — both when driving and as pedestrians.

Additionally, the agency drew attention to the need to prepare for possible power outages. Residents are advised to check the serviceability of autonomous light sources (flashlights, candles) in advance and categorically not use open flames (torches, lamps) for lighting to prevent fires.

In the event of any emergencies, immediately call emergency services numbers:

01 or 101 — fire and rescue (from mobile phones)

112 — single emergency number for all services.
