Anomalous Heat Hits Zabaykalsky Krai

During the anomalous heat event in Zabaykalsky Krai, some locations recorded temperatures as high as +2 °C (36 °F).
Zabaykalsky Krai was under the influence of a warm air mass on February 2, which moved from areas of Kazakhstan, leading to recorded anomalous heat in the region. This was reported on February 3 on the website of the regional department for hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring.
In the western and central districts of the krai, air temperatures on February 2 during the day rose to 0 to -5 °C (32 to 23 °F), while in the southern districts, thaws were observed up to +2 °C (36 °F). The average daily air temperature in these areas exceeded the climatic norm by 8–12 °C.
However, on February 3 and 4, cold air masses from Yakutia will return to Zabaykalsky Krai, and by the end of the week, frost will return to most areas.
The prevailing air temperature at night will be -33 to -38 °C (-27 to -36 °F), and in the northern districts, frosts will intensify to -43 to -48 °C (-45 to -54 °F).
