The snowfall in Voronezh seems like small potatoes compared to what other regions experienced over the weekend. Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Chuvashia, and Tatarstan were hit by snowdrifts. Readers of the Telegram channel «Caution, News!» complained about train delays on the Kazan direction from Izhevsk, Samara, and a number of other settlements. Ryazan media reported that several commuter trains and a passenger train were stuck due to snow blockages. Voronezh residents also faced problems in Ryazan Oblast, who were traveling to St. Petersburg on the overnight of February 1 to 2 on the branded train «Severnaya Palmira».

Overnight, the «Severnaya Palmira» train managed to make up for lost time and arrived in St. Petersburg on schedule.

«We»ve been standing for an hour somewhere in Ryazan Oblast, letting late trains pass,« wrote a reader to the editorial office of Voronezh1.ru. »Problems due to the snowstorm and frost. At least, that«s what the conductor says, without explaining much. And the express train »Voronezh — Moscow,« as I understood, was also constantly delayed — I heard announcements at a couple of stations.»

The reader sent us a message on February 1 at 22:49, and we received it on February 2 at 01:29 — more than 2.5 hours later. Russian Railways (RZD) did not distribute any emergency messages about problems near Ryazan. On the company«s official resources, information is only about an emergency in Kirov Oblast, where on February 1 at 15:50, 21 wagons of a freight train derailed, due to which the movement of a number of passenger trains was disrupted.

According to our reader, overnight the «Severnaya Palmira» made up for lost time, and the express arrived in St. Petersburg on the morning of February 2 on schedule. On the Russian Railways online board, the arrival time is indeed listed as planned. As are the trains that run from Voronezh to Moscow.
