Three weight and dimension control frames to operate near Chelyabinsk

Three weight and dimension control checkpoints will become operational in the Chelyabinsk region on January 26. They were shut down for repairs but are now being reactivated. Currently, they are running in test mode, but starting next week, the control will become automatic. This was announced on Wednesday, 21 January, by the regional Ministry of Road Management and Transport.
The following sections are involved:
Western bypass of Chelyabinsk, 14 km;
Western bypass of Chelyabinsk, 22 km;
the road from Dolgoderevenskoye to Argayash to Kuznetskoye to Kyshtym, 19 km.
‘After testing is completed, from January 26, all checkpoints will be switched to operational mode and begin full-scale operation,’ the Ministry of Road Transport warned.
Recall that there have been repeated scandals surrounding weight and dimension control recently. In November, we reported the story of truck driver Sergei, who was transporting military equipment from Russia«s western border to Siberia, traveling along the M-5. A month later, he received a fine of 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,000 at current rates) for exceeding the vehicle»s height by 11 centimeters. His violation was recorded by the notorious weight and dimension control frame at kilometer 1795 of the Moscow–Chelyabinsk highway near Chebarkul. Truck drivers have been mass complaining about this checkpoint since early October, suspecting that it inflates readings. Truck drivers recorded an appeal to the president, demanding an inspection of the frame and the cancellation of what they believe are unjust fines.
