Teacher wins court case after losing job in BMW crash

The drawing teacher from Novosibirsk was injured in a car crash and subsequently lost her teaching position.
In Novosibirsk, compensation was awarded to Lyubov Rudakova, a drawing teacher who had been fighting for it for a year. The woman suffered a serious hand injury and lost her job due to the accident. The driver got off with a fine of 1000 rubles (approximately $11 at current rates) and disappeared from her life. After the NGS publication, the Siberian woman managed to win the case.
The final hearing on moral compensation took place on January 20 in the Leninsky District Court. The culprit of the accident, Andrei Ponamarev, did not appear at any of the hearings. In a conversation with an NGS correspondent, he stated that he offered to pay immediately, but the woman refused, and therefore he now renounces all obligations. However, Ponamarev offered money when he did not yet know what exact punishment he faced, so he likely wanted to close the case rather than help, the victim assumes.
In addition to documents, Lyubov Rudakova«s representative, Novosibirsk lawyer Andrei Petrov from »MFC-Almaz«, attached the NGS publication. The culprit»s comments in the material, according to the lawyer, contributed, and the court granted Rudakova«s claim.
“First of all, I was shocked because this had been going on for a whole year, and hearings were held every month. We made adjustments to the application, waited a long time for responses from other authorities. I already thought it would drag on until June again. At the hearing, there were many clarifying questions from the judge, she listened very attentively and compared the facts. They showed your publication. Then unexpectedly the court made a decision. We won the case, now it remains to formalize everything. Thank you for your help!” shares Lyubov Rudakova.
Andrei Petrov clarified that the culprit will be charged 150,000 rubles (approximately $1,700 at current rates) for moral harm—exactly the amount claimed in the lawsuit. The decision was made by the court of first instance and can be appealed.
Earlier we wrote that a 26-year-old Siberian woman paid 660,000 rubles (approximately $7,300 at current rates) for compensation for dilapidated housing.
