Platform Collapses at Moscow Central Circle Station; Repair Timeline Unclear

A section of the platform at Nizhegorodskaya station sank, with concrete slabs collapsing and disrupting train services.
Recently, at the Nizhegorodskaya station on the Moscow Central Circle, a platform collapsed — concrete slabs sank noticeably. Now, trains are passing by without stopping. The press service of the Moscow Railway (MZhD) clarified that part of the platform sank «while maintaining the track clearance,» and protective mechanisms were activated.

The platform failure on the Moscow Central Circle has resulted in trains bypassing the station without stops.
For passenger safety, the station has been closed, and it is not possible to transfer to the Moscow Central Circle at Nizhegorodskaya. The station can be reached from Taganskaya on buses e70, m7, t63, 51, and 766; from Ryazansky Prospekt — on buses e70 and t63.

Nizhegorodskaya station remains closed for safety reasons following the significant platform subsidence incident.
How long the platform will be repaired — the Moscow Railway did not specify. Kirill Yankov, chairman of the Russian Passengers« Union, stated in an interview with MSK1.RU that the timeframe depends on the damage.

Station closures and alternative bus routes are implemented after the platform collapse at Nizhegorodskaya.
«If it»s only the upper part of the platform, then the timeframe is a week. If it«s the structures under the platform, then the repair will take several months. In any case, five to six [months] is an extremely reasonable timeframe,» he said.
Yankov emphasized that he is not a technical expert and does not know the exact causes of the platform collapse. He assumes that an error was made during its construction.
«It»s not about the supports, most likely, it«s a major error in the construction of the platform structure,» the interlocutor expressed his version.
He added that the station can be repaired without halting traffic, simply at night. Whether they will do so — Yankov is not sure.
«In the last 10–15 years in Moscow, much can be done without interrupting traffic, but they still do it with interruptions. Therefore, I certainly cannot guarantee that there will be no interruption in train traffic,» he added.
Earlier we published footage from the scene right after the incident.
