The «Ivolga» train has completed its first test run. It traveled to Kaluga without passengers. In technical run-in mode, the rolling stock covered more than 300 km. En route, specialists checked the actual travel time between stations and sections, the train«s passage through bridges, tunnels, and overpasses, as well as the operation of traction and power equipment. This was reported by the Moscow Department of Transport.

The test run was conducted jointly with specialists from the «Central Suburban Passenger Company» (CPPC) and Russian Railways (RZD). It is part of the Central Transport Hub development project, which unites 11 Russian regions with a population of over 31 million people.

«The Central Transport Hub is part of the national project »Infrastructure for Life.« The CTU regions account for nearly 75% of all suburban transportation in Russia. The project»s goal is to make trips faster and more comfortable, creating a predictable railway connection between the capital and the regions for millions of people. Among the CTU«s advantages are an understandable schedule, modern trains, and familiar services. With the project»s launch, transport accessibility between cities will increase 3 times. This will create opportunities for the economy and business. We are developing railway infrastructure on the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin,« commented Maxim Liksutov.

The development program (CTU) is a joint project of the Russian government, the government of Moscow, and Russian Railways (RZD). It is a continuation of the experience from launching the Moscow Central Diameters and is planned for the period from 2025 to 2035. The project currently envisages a gradual improvement of railway communication between the Moscow agglomeration and the nearest major regional centers.

Kaluga Oblast is one of the first areas where the project will be launched. For this purpose, existing lines and stations will be utilized to accelerate the start of service.
