Kurgan tests new high-capacity bus

A new bus of the “Lotos” brand has been launched in Kurgan on a trial basis. According to the Kurgan City Administration«s Department of Urban Development, the bus started operating on route No. 57 “1st Microdistrict – Krivolapova Street”. This route is a mainline route with the highest passenger traffic.
The new “Lotos” bus is longer than others—at 12.5 meters (41 feet). It is fully low-floor with three doors and adapted for people with disabilities. It has an enlarged area for passengers with strollers and is equipped with air conditioning.
The bus will be tested until mid-February. Kurgan residents are asked to evaluate its convenience, comfort, and accessibility.
Last year, 88 city buses were updated in Kurgan, and since the start of the transport reform, 140 new buses have appeared in the city. The bus fleet renewal rate is 91%.
Last week during the frost, a resident of the Utyak settlement complained about cold “Simaz” buses operating on route No. 14. Kurgan residents also complained about other routes, in particular, residents had questions about the public transport schedule. And carriers responded to the governor’s criticism that old PAZ buses are still running in the city.
