Chaos at Nizhegorodskaya as commuters storm trains after platform closure

On the evening of January 30, part of the platform at the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) station «Nizhegorodskaya» collapsed. Currently, trains on the Moscow Central Circle pass through without stopping. MSK1.RU went there on the first weekday. We show what is happening there during the evening rush hour.

The transport interchange hub at «Nizhegorodskaya» combines not only the MCC, but also Moscow Central Diameter 4 (MCD-4), as well as the Bolshaya Koltsevaya (Big Circle Line) and Nekrasovskaya metro lines. Moreover, in the underground, there is a cross-platform transfer here, meaning passengers can switch to another line simply by moving to another track.

In the vestibule, the MSK1.RU correspondent did not notice any unusual crowds of people.

For obvious reasons, the passage to the Moscow Central Circle is closed. Banners with information about the closure have been hung on the barriers. Arrows indicate how to get to MCD-4 and to the stations of the two metro lines. A metro employee is on duty who will advise any passenger if needed.

Mainly, people were flowing directly between the BKL and Nekrasovskaya line, or to MCD-4. And the crowds in the evening were specifically on the train platform. Passengers were warming up under the covered descent to the platform.

But here the reason is not the closure of the MCC station, but delays on MCD-4. The press service of the Moscow Railway confirmed to MSK1.RU that trains are delayed in both directions, but are following the established schedule.
Passengers crowded and stormed the doors of arriving trains. Some had to wait for the next train.
Meanwhile, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor«s Office has taken control over the observance of passengers» rights. Due to bad weather, delays are also present on MCD-2, MCD-3, and the Yaroslavl direction.
MSK1.RU showed the first footage after the collapse of part of the platform at the MCC «Nizhegorodskaya». Together with experts, we tried to figure out, how long the station will be closed.
