Car carrier stranded at sea after leaving Vladivostok for South Korea

The ship «Aviva», which was stuck in the Sea of Japan for several days, has reached a port in Donghae Bay, South Korea. According to the Vl.ru portal, it arrived under its own power without tug assistance after a three-day standstill in the middle of the sea.
The roll-on/roll-off vessel was heading from Vladivostok, Russia, to South Korea for loading and was scheduled to arrive in Busan early in the morning on January 28. However, on the way to the Korean port, the ship lost power, and the main engine could not be started for three days. There were no cars on board.
The ship«s agent declined to comment, stating only that the engine could be started and the vessel might proceed under its own power. It is currently at anchor, according to the Marinetraffic portal. It is unknown when its return trip is planned or how long repairs will take. Also, at the time of publication, it is unclear whether a new ship has been sent to collect the purchased cars.
The «Aviva» is designed to transport cars from Japan and Korea to Vladivostok. It sails under the flag of Togo with its home port in Lome and was built in 1983.
