Meteorologist Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Fobos weather center, gave a forecast for spring and summer in Central Russia on his Telegram channel. He explained to the portal 76.RU that this information is also relevant for the Yaroslavl Region.

In short, we can expect an early, turbulent spring with flooding and a relatively scorching summer.

When Winter Will End

According to the meteorologist, February, which began with anomalous frosts, should approach normal temperature levels or even slightly exceed them in the second ten-day period. In the final third decade, the air will be about a couple of degrees warmer than long-term averages.

Meteorological spring (when a sustained transition of air temperature above zero degrees Celsius is recorded), according to long-term forecasts, will arrive a week earlier than usual — around mid-March.

What Spring Will Be Like

“The average temperature in March across almost the entire Russian Plain will be 3–4°C (37–39°F) above normal,” added Yevgeny Tishkovets.

The meteorologist warned that with the onset of meteorological spring, we might face extreme spring flooding and inundation of significant land areas.

“If it weren’t for the abnormal snowdrifts acting as a natural «refrigerator», the process would have started much earlier,” explained Yevgeny Tishkovets.

Overall, the entire spring period, according to preliminary estimates, should be quite warm with normal precipitation distribution, except for a relatively rainy May.

Summer Forecast

Summer in Central Russia is forecast to be hotter and drier than in 2025. Especially in July–August.

“This is not Armageddon, not 2010. Summer is shaping up to be comfortable for those who will be resting, and less comfortable for those who will be working,” explained Yevgeny Tishkovets to the portal 76.RU.

Recall that climatologist Vladimir Klimenko gave his forecast for the summer of 2026.
