Spring flood in Tyumen region to be tougher

Experts from Roshydrometcenter (the Hydrometeorological Research Center of the Russian Federation, or Roshydromet) predict that the spring flood of 2026 in the Tyumen region will be more difficult compared to the previous period.

«An analysis of the current hydrometeorological conditions shows that the spring flood of 2026 will be more difficult than last year, particularly in the Central, Siberian, and Far Eastern federal districts. Above‑normal maximum water levels from the spring flood are possible on the Ishim River (Tyumen region),» the agency reported.
In 2025, a difficult flood situation was also expected, but thanks to the measures taken, severe consequences were avoided. Over 600 million rubles (approximately $6.3 million at current rates) were allocated for flood control measures at that time.
Last year, rising water led to flooding of residential buildings, and in some areas of the region, a state of emergency was even declared.
