Valieva returns as Tutberidze, Mishin skaters lead Russian Jumping Championship

On Sunday, February 1, the Russian Jumping Championship concluded at the Navka Arena in Moscow. The second day featured the semi-finals and finals in women«s and men»s single skating, as well as pairs.

Gold in pairs skating went to Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov. They were second after the semi-finals but snatched victory in the end. Their main rivals — Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii — placed second. The margin was only 1.22 points. In the final, both pairs attempted quadruple throws, but it ended with falls. Bronze went to Ekaterina Chikmareva and Matvei Ianchenkov.

In men«s single skating, six athletes competed in the semi-final, but only three — Nikita Sarnovskii, Vladislav Dikidzhi, and Gleb Lutfullin — advanced.

In a fierce battle of quadruple jumps, Sarnovskii won with a large margin, scoring 193.42 points; Dikidzhi placed second with 186.73, and Lutfullin third with 169.55 points. All are pupils of Alexei Mishin.
Intrigue in women«s single skating was added by Kamila Valieva, who returned to the ice after disqualification. On the first day of competition, she demonstrated a restored quadruple toe loop. This allowed her to surpass Beijing Olympic silver medalist Aleksandra Trusova, who resumed her career after giving birth to a son.
In the semi-final, Valieva performed two quadruple toe loops (one with a flaw, the second with a fall — Ed.«s note) and a cascade of a triple lutz and triple toe loop. Separately, the skater landed a triple lutz. In the final seconds, Kamila attempted a cascade of a double flip, euler, and triple salchow. The judges evaluated Valieva»s performance at 53.33 points. This was not enough to reach the final. As a result, skaters from Tutberidze«s group took the lead. Victory was won by Alisa Dvoeglazova, silver went to Dina Khusnutdinova, and bronze — to Daria Sadkova.
As for Dvoeglazova, this is not her first gold at the Championship — on the first day, she and Andrei Mozalev prevailed in the duet battle.
The leaders of the national team in men«s and women»s single skating were not present at the Russian Championship. Petr Gumennik and Adelia Petrosian are currently actively preparing for the Olympics in Milan, which will take place from February 6 to 22. Russian athletes have been admitted in neutral status, and both will perform in the first warm-up group.
Earlier, we published a biography of figure skater Adelia Petrosian — read it. All news about the upcoming Olympics we collect in a separate story.
