Tomsk Walruses Swim 13.5km in Ice Water Marathon

A team of seven walruses from Tomsk swam 13.5 kilometers in icy water at a marathon that took place in Novosibirsk. This was reported by the press service of the Tomsk region administration.
The VII day-long marathon of ice-water swimming named after Alexei Moiseev was held in Novosibirsk. It was attended by 69 walruses from Baikalsk, Novokuznetsk, Barnaul, Novosibirsk, and Tomsk.
“The main feature of the «day-long» event is the continuous process: team members must constantly be in the water for 24 hours. In total, all participants swam more than 42 kilometers,” the press service clarified.
The Tomsk residents spent 6 hours and 39 minutes in water at +1°C (34°F) and covered 13 kilometers and 650 meters.
The Tomsk team included: Vladimir Soroka, Vitaly Shatura, Daria Barysheva, Yuri Golovastikov, Maria Kornilkina, Alexei Svarovsky, and Evgeny Vyatkin.
