Planets to Align Over Yekaterinburg on February 28

Residents of Yekaterinburg will be able to see a planet parade in the sky over the city. On the night of February 28, the celestial bodies will align in a single line.
“Six planets—Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, Venus, and Mercury—will line up in the sky. Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury will be bright enough for naked-eye observations, while binoculars or a small telescope will help locate Uranus and Neptune,” according to the StarWalk website.
It is best to observe the extraterrestrial event outside the city, away from artificial lighting. Note that in 2026, Yekaterinburg residents will have another chance to see a planet parade—the phenomenon may occur on August 12.
In December, residents of Yekaterinburg could observe the Gemini meteor shower. The starfall was the most powerful of the year, lasting from December 4 to 20.
Yekaterinburg residents also observed another rare celestial phenomenon—a lunar eclipse. Check out our collection with captivating photos. Prior to that, two planets—Jupiter and Venus—could be seen in the sky over Yekaterinburg. And here we showed the northern lights spread over the shore of the Verkh-Isetsky Pond.
